Photo Dumps
I would love to say I take great photos. I would love to say I spend a lot of time organizing those photos, curating them, treating them with love and kindness, and making a really great travelogue/museums/cool places to visit kind of site out of them.
But alas, that’s SO not the case here. I realized last year that I have an absolute shit ton of pics from some really cool places (and some only moderately cool places) and that my Google and Apple photos are completely out of control and I can’t even figure out what’s what, especially since I’ve got about 30,000 screenshots mixed in with the real photos.
This is my attempt at getting some semblance of order to them, without having to go back and tag them all in their respective original locations (not that easy to do and I’m lazy), and it was simply faster and easier to bulk compress and upload them here. Minimal effort at the moment, but we’re still in the middle of getting our own backyard in order (I’ll post some of those too eventually).
Questions or comments, email me. There’s a link down below.
Ruth Bancroft Garden – Walnut Creek CA – May 2025
I have such a crush on this place, I absolutely adore it. I’m taking all my Bay area friends there now.
Anna Sui at PHX Art – May 2025
Known for creating “head-to-toe looks” that build imaginative universes inhabited by various alter-egos, from cowgirls to grunge girls and pirate rock stars.
Orchid Mania at DBG – Spring 2025
I can’t grow orchids, just doesn’t work. But wow, these were amazing to look at and dream about growing.
Ruth Bancroft Garden – Walnut Creek – April 2025
Huge gallery, may take a bit to load. I’ve heard about this garden, and I even own the book about it – The Bold Dry Garden – but I hadn’t ever been to visit.
Gardens by the Bay – Singapore – April 2025
Yah, I realize it’s one of the most touristy things to do in Singapore, but it’s so Crazy Rich Asians movie style up there, you just gotta go. Lots of images, maybe loads slowly.
Singapore – Absolutely Amazing!
OMG, Singapore, where have you been all my life? 17 hours on a plane is nothing if you’re waiting at the end of the flight ;-}}}
CACSS Show & Sale at Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix
Every year the CACSS holds a show and sale to benefit the society. It’s usually at DBG, which is one of my happy places.
Scottsdale Ferrari Art Week – Inaugural 2025 Edition
First described to me as Art Basel in the desert, clearly by someone who hasn’t been to Art Basel, if this was the intent. Artists are struggling right now, and anything that gets more exposure is probably ok.
Quiltcon 2025 – Phoenix
Accidentally stumbled into the biggest US quilt show of the year, which just happened to be in Phoenix this time.
Desert Botanical Garden – Feb 2025
More DBG. I really can’t get enough of the place.
Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum – Tucson AZ
Another little gem of a place that was not crazy crowded and has plenty of room and tons of stuff to check out. The black rattlesnake was mesmerizing.
Vision Gallery Annual Quilt Show – Chandler AZ
This is the second time I’ve caught the annual quilt show at Vision Gallery in Chandler. Maybe I’ll get off my duff and submit something for the next one.
LightBloom by HYBYCOZO – DBG – Nov/Dec 2024
Combination of two different dumps from the Lightbloom exhibit at Desert Botanical Garden. Artist(s) are HYBYCOZO, and it’s some really cool engineering as well as art!
Phoenix Art Museum – Jan 2024
PHX Art – Dec 2024 – Fashion archives exhibit and random shots.
Jim DeWitt Estate Sale – Richmond CA – Winter 2024
Jim was a prolific artist, not just in marine themed paintings. He’s got a large body of work made up of portraits and figurative collections as well.
Arches National Park & Moab UT – 2024
After driving near Moab repeatedly, we finally decided to stop in and check it out. Absolutely stunning scenery, and we rode our bikes along the Colorado River at dusk and again in the morning.
Conservation Garden Park – West Jordan
One of the best examples of why we do NOT NEED lawns in our landscaping.
Ashton Gardens at Thanksgiving Point – Lehi
Normally I would have skipped this place since it’s like super tourist attraction of the worst sort, IMO. But the dahlias…
Red Butte Garden & Arboretum
Red Butte Garden is part of the University of Utah. It’s a great garden to visit – lots of xeriscaping, bike trails nearby, all that kind of stuff.
Random Park City Pics
Park City. The rich, not quite so liberal (isn’t that the way of it now?) cousin to SLC.
Stansbury Island – Great Salt Lake – Utah
Pink sand section located on the west side of the Great Salt Lake. This is not the area by the Spiral Jetty.
Yellowstone & Grand Teton
Big sky country, for real. Lotta pics here, maybe takes a few minutes to load up. Be patient.
LACMA and La Brea Tar Pits
LACMA. La Brea. Typical LA visit stuff. LACMA is such a monster of a museum, there’s gotta be stuff here for nearly everyone. And some deadstock denim.
Mickalene Thomas at The Broad – LA
Yes. All that. Yes, I said. And a bag of chips.
Yosemite Basically Sucks Now.
Holes in the ceiling at The Ahwahnee. Absolutely filthy rooms at the Yosemite Lodge. Food is nothing to write home about. Deport Aramark and fix this place.
Mammoth, June Lake & Mono Lake
Yay! I love this part of California – so beautiful, not generally overrun with tourists, and Mono Lake just plain kicks ass.
