description: Another little gem of a place that was not crazy crowded and has plenty of room and tons of stuff to check out. The black rattlesnake was mesmerizing.

# Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum – Tucson AZ

## One of those places I’ve been missing for years apparently.

Ok, I admit that I’ve only been to the Grand Canyon once, and I’ve lived or been within a few hours of the place for nearly half my life.  There are a lot of places like that, I guess, and [Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum](https://www.desertmuseum.org) is one of them.

I’ve followed their IG for years, and thought, oh, that looks fun, that looks neat, and it’s not very far from where we live, but we never seemed to get the inclination to actually go check it out.  So we finally did.  What a killer place – it’s a mix of indoors and outdoors, they’ve got a reptile house, beautiful desert native plantings, some big horn sheep, a mountain lion (or two?) and just a decent assortment of all manner of desert related – Sonoran desert related – things.

Did I mention they are right smack there with the [Saguaro National Forest](https://www.nps.gov/sagu/index.htm)?  Also a very cool trip, and it looks like it would be pretty fun to bike, as long as it was in the winter.
